Got him home last week. His engine runs strong, but there is a ton of stuff left before he's road worthy and safe.

Machete update 06/18/2010

Machete is undergoing a heart transfusion at Edwin's shop. A 2F was sourced with good compression numbers and will get new seals before going back into the truck.  New-to-me Maxxis Bighorn tires were also acquired from my buddy Tommy.

Here's a shot of Machete at the shop.

Thought I'd post a link to my build-up of my recently acquired FJ40 named "Machete".

2010 Round Up 03/23/2010

Well, I made it out to Mason for the Lone Star Land Cruiser Round Up this past Saturday afternoon. It was a mess of water and mud. Read about what happened here.

I finished the tire carrier today. It is stout and will easily accept my 4 bike modified Thule rack.

I managed to finish the swing-arms on my 4x4Labs bumper project. Next up, tire carrier and some sort of bike rack attachment.

Edwin at Land Cruiser Specialists has opened his shop to us to work on our rigs. This is also an excuse to just hang out too. If you do plan on coming to work on your rig, please limit it to minor tasks. Nothing big like knuckle rebuild, steering conversion, or the like. This will give people the opportunity to use the lift.

Date: 2/20/2010

Rain 02/04/2010

This rain really sucks. Got a lead on a 1982 FJ40 in San Antonio. Looks good from the pictures, but the price is a little out of range.

40 02/02/2010

Well, I'm turning 40 this year (December 7th) and have decided I wanted an FJ40. I've been scouring the net looking for a good deal that wasn't a rust bucket, but no freaking luck.  Everyone wants top dollar.

It has been a good learning experience, though. I've learned which years are more desirable and what to look for when buying a used FJ40.

If anyone has any leads, post a comment or email me at david.gonzalez@gmail.com.
